Visionario e creatore prolifico, Gio Ponti (1891-1979) non coprì semplicemente un ruolo determinante nel far conoscere nel mondo l’architettura e la creatività italiana, ma aprì la strada a un nuovo concetto: quello dell’arte di vivere. Questo libro copre la sua intera carriera, dagli anni Venti agli anni Settanta sia in Italia che all’estero. Il volume contiene una vastissima selezione dei molti campi nei quali si cimentò virtuosamente. Un saggio contenuto in questo grande e magnifico volume è curato da Maurizio Eliseo ed è dedicato alla produzione navale del celebre architetto: dal suo debutto a bordo della Saturnia, ai rivestimenti ceramici e ai servizi di porcellana per la motonave Victoria del 1931, agli spazi di prima e seconda classe a bordo dell’Andrea Doria.
Questa pubblicazione è certamente un’opera completa che rende omaggio all’universo creativo di una figura leggendaria nel mondo dell’arte contemporanea.

A prolific creator, Gio Ponti (1891-1979) not only played a key part in Italian architecture, but also opened up the way for a new art de vivre. This book covers the whole of his long career, from the 1920s to the late 1970s, both in Italy and abroad. It looks at the various fields in which he exercised his talent. An essay in this large and impressive book is written by Maurizio Eliseo and is devoted to the maritime production of the famous architect; from his debut on the Saturnia, to the ceramic walls and china for the 1931 M/V Victoria, to the first and second class of the Andrea Doria.
